Haitian Refugees Scholarship Fund
Three weeks after the 2010 Haitian earthquake, a Haitian pastor in our
area said, " What Haiti needs most is to change the way they think."
Pilotage Center has taken up this challenge.
Today between 15-20% of the Haitians living on this island live in the
Dominican Republic. They cross the border and continue to move
eastward looking for work.
Punta Cana / Bávaro is at the end of the line. Over half of the full time
residents living here are Haitians. They work primarily in construction,
security and in informal jobs. Their work is temporary and erratic.
Pilotage Haitian adult students are selected by their desire to learn.
They are dedicated and diligent scholars. They understand the value of
education.
Their job opportunities increase as they learn English, understand
cultural realities and become open to the international environment.
But they cannot afford to pay for their courses or books.
We challenge you to give monthly - $60 - $200 - $240 - to provide
continual education opportunities to these deserving adults.
